Standard EN SampleThyroid Phantom Used in Occupational Monitoring
Also Known As: ANSI/HPS N13.44-2014
The HPS N13.44-2014 standard provides guidelines for the design, fabrication, and modeling of physical and nonphysical thyroid phantoms. The standard aims to ensure the accuracy and reliability of in vivo measurement systems used for monitoring radiation exposure in the thyroid.
The standard includes specifications for acceptable materials, physical characteristics, and quality assurance and control measures for the fabrication of physical thyroid phantoms. It does not, however, specify the techniques for fabrication or component testing.
In addition to physical phantoms, the standard also provides guidance for the use and modeling of computational thyroid phantoms. Quality assurance requirements are outlined for the use of these models in Monte Carlo computations.
Furthermore, the standard recommends best practices for the use of thyroid phantoms in radiological dosimetry, including proper calibration procedures and assessment of uncertainties.
